Has any Channels Plus DVR user accessed hdhomerun channels from another location

Has any Channels Plus DVR user accessed hdhomerun channels from another location??

My reason for asking is i have a cabin 10 miles from my home. If i have a internet wired tv with a Channels app can i access my local channels that are on my hdhomerun tuner from my location 10 miles from home?

Thanks to anyone that responds to me.

You can enable "Remote Access" on your DVR's web configuration UI page

Then you can install Channels DVR app at the remote location, and click Connect to DVR > Away From Home

Hi again,

Thanks for responding.

I appreciate you answer, however i was wondering if, in addition to accessing the DVR, i would be able to view live my local channels that are picked up on my HDhomerun tuner??

Thanks again

Yes.

The biggest consideration is the upstream bandwidth from the remote location. You’ll want at least 5Mbps upstream, and if you get 25 or more you may even be able to stream in original quality.

OP I have used this feature from beta days and it has worked flawlessly since then. I have gone on vacation several times and taken my Apple TV with me and it connects fabulously! You don't have to set up proxies, VPN, or anything else to make it work.

Hi,
Thanks for the response. My question was if you can watch your local tv channels that you get with the hdhomerun that is at your home while you are on vacation. I need to know if you can watch your locals live when on the road.
Thanks

Asked and answered my friend. I saw the original post and the corrected post after the Dev answered.

Anything you can watch at home you can watch remotely ... so yes.

As long as you have powerful enough hardware to transcode and a compatible device at the cabin to watch

The entire reason I switched to Channels from Tvheadend was because of their easy remote access feature.

I spent most of the last 18 months in and out of the hospital, and my decision to switch was prompted by this. While in patient or away from home, I was able to access my full complement of channels and my DVR without much issue (and when those did occur, the developers were quite responsive).

Assuming your source location has sufficient upload bandwidth and your viewing location ample download bandwidth, remote access is not a problem for accessing any of your inputs.
