It would be great to limit recordings on series passes to HD channels only. I can accomplish this for most programs by limiting the series to one (HD) channel, but I have programs that are broadcasted on multiple HD channels.
The DVR already prioritizes HD channels when making recordings. Are you seeing otherwise?
I think that that is the behavior if something is broadcasted at the exact same time. Some programs are broadcasted on an SD channel first, before it is broadcasted on an HD channel. For a particular I watch this is the case and the HD channel it eventually gets broadcasted on is not always the same (corner case, I know). A potentially simple solution would be if one is allowed to specify multiple preferred channels (e.g., comma separated), instead of just one.
I see, that’s definitely an interesting edge case. What channel is that particular show on?
The DVR engine has a way to limit passes to HD airings only, but we haven’t exposed any UI for it yet.
It HD channel 709 or 710. It is Nightly Business Report on PBS, Comcast Cable, Bay Area. Most of the time it’s on 709, sometimes it is on 710 and it’s always broadcasted on SD channels earlier in the day (190).
Quickest work around at the moment is to “hide” channel 160 via the hdhomerun web interface. On the channel lineup, click the star twice.
Thanks! That will do for now.
I disabled the channels on HDHomeRun, but they would still show up in my upcoming recordings. I figured it was best to delete the DVR line-up altogether and set it again so that the db would not have a reference to deleted channel anymore. Now I run into a different issue, where the TV Guide is completely gone, except for channels 90 and lower. Naturally, my scheduled recordings are gone as well.
Are you sure you selected the same lineup? You need to pick the digital version of your cable provider from the list.
My bad, I selected Comcast Cable with cable subscription (HDHomerun Prime). It seems to work fine now, thanks!
