HDHomerun FLEX Over heating

My HDHomerun FLEX 4 tuner is over heating. yesterday I started losing a lot of OTA channels most importantly ABC. Got error message "Tuner Problem Causing Reception Problem". So today I felt the unit and it was very hot. I unplugged it for about an hour and now get 4 more channels including ABC but still miss the mostly unimportant 20 or so upper channels that I used to get.
Is this a common problem or is my unit likely defective? Not impressed with Silicon Dust customer service as you have to leave a voice mail and wait for them to call back. I first noticed this in Channels when I got the message "Playback Failed".

SD's support is hit-or-miss. As mentioned above, email support or post on their forum. The forum may be the better option, as I have personally had poor experiences with their actual support department.

You should definitely contact them, though, as the overheating does not sound normal.

I second opening a trouble ticket.

I had a recent issue with my HDHomeRun EXTEND tuner. I opened a trouble ticket on their website and they went out of their way to help me even though the warranty expired years ago.

what year is this? who calls customer service? email them, they are quick. i emailed them last week about my fired 4k tuner from kickstarter that wouldn't tune to any station and they responded in minutes and mailed out a replacement right away. got it 3 days later.

From someone who runs a support department for a software company, lots of people call. Lots of people also email. In our case, we do enterprise level software, so it is mostly business, but I would expect the calls on consumer software/hardware to be higher than ours.

With that said, I wish I could force everyone to open a ticket, or send an email, as it is so much easier to track and respond to.

It is sometimes not easy to explain what is going wrong and what you have tried in an Email or Trouble ticket. Almost every company has a support team that you can talk to even in this century. Or do you also want to eliminate phones?
