HDHR just added ATSC 3.0 Audio Support

... for a ton of platforms. Not sure what this means for Channels but figured I'd share the news.

Well, sort of.

SiliconDust has created their own web service that transcodes AC-4 audio into AC-3 audio. Basically, it's an internet–dependent patch that requires a constant online connection. (Similar to how their TV viewing software requires a constant online connection to even view OTA broadcast TV.)

Sounds like a hot mess for keeping the A/V in sync. The native HDHR app does not play nice with my OLED tv. Frame rate is never right so the picture has horrible studder. I just use it to confirm functionality when their tech support ever gets around to answering my tickets.

@mtnbkr60 there support is basically useless. I have had a ticket in for like 3 or 4 months. I have message one of there support guys on a reddit page and he said he would look into my ticket to see why it hasn't been looked at and still nothing. Great product terrible technical support.

Does Channels support AC-4 audio in the Android TV app (NVidia Shield)?

Their entire HDHR software TV/DVR doesn't work if your internet goes down.

Lost faith in them a long time ago.
