HDHR3 dropping Live TV

I’m losing connection to HDHR3-CC when using LiveTV I can view DVR recordings fine so not a network issue. The HDHR runs fine connected to a windows or Mac via HDHR apps. So the main issue is the Channels app. What is needed to diagnose the problem? The logs just show

2018/05/12 12:13:33 [TNR] Opened connection to 1319F0A2 for ch1405
2018/05/12 12:13:55 [TNR] Closed connection to 1319F0A2 for ch1405

I need some help to fix.
Also I tried network sharing of tuner and No sharing, currently I’m connected via ethernet and tried wifi also.

What exactly is happening in the Channels app when you’re watching live TV?

Lost Connection on screen

Both IOS and tvOS

Try the free app InstaTV on the Apple TV or the official HDHR app on the iOS device to see if it has the same issue.

On iOS the HDHR app is working fine! What could that mean? Haven’t tried the AppleTV yet

How long does Channels work before showing the error?

30seconds usually sometimes a couple minutes

Very strange.

Next step would be to look at the logs from the Apple TV app. Look up the IP assigned to your Apple TV. Go into Channels, turn off Tuner Sharing, then watch TV til the error happens. Then access the log by opening a browser to your Apple TV IP address like so: http://x.x.x.x:57000/log

Ok it looks like I’m having some network issues in my house! I finally got the HDHR app to kill stream on computer and iOS at same time. The Hunt begins!

Ill post the logs in 15 or so

The logs will likely just say “connection reset” which happens when either the HDHR or the router closes the TCP connection.

If you have multiple switches I would make sure the Apple TV, DVR and HDHR are all plugged into the same switch with cat6 cables.

Here is the logs on a paste

This worked great until maybe a couple days has there been an update to the app in the last week or so? and can I downgrade for now?

2018-05-12 13:25:35.814 read got (54) Connection reset by peer

why? I didn’t reset or stop app manually?

Do I need to change the Audio setup? It appears right before that

The issue is with your network, not the app. The “connection reset by peer” is a tcp error message sent by the other side of the connection (peer).

Ok thats what I was hoping is was not!
Yes I have multiple switches 3 to that point. I’m going to try to limit it to 2 and see if that helps.

Thanks

The crazy part is recorded shows play just fine via Channels just not Live TV

Here is a log of Playback from DVR over network to another instance of Channnels that goes through 3 switches, still have Live TV playback issue on this one though.
