Changed out the ipaddresses in my tuning scripts with $2 and everything is still working.
Does anyone have any ideas/scripts to AUTOMATICALLY scrape all the channel id's from the Spectrum TV website? and write it into an m3u list
Would rather not do them one at a time if someone already has a solution...but I will if needed...lol

Aren't there two other people that have been working this ATV angle for Spectrum (based on posts earlier in this thread)? Wouldn't they have created M3Us? Hopefully they'll post what they have, as duplicating effort is not what we want to be doing. Once they're posted we'll add them to the repo as well.
The other thing I was thinking is that you could use Schedules Direct to get the data you'd need pretty quickly, they have a 7-day free trial, or it's like $9 total for two months (pay them if you can, we want to see them stick around).
You could pull the report for Spectrum in your Zip Code, which would look like this one for Cox in Phoenix:
Or, with an account you could query the JSON data, and if you're handy with Bash and jq create the M3U that way. As you can see the Gracenote Station ID, call sign, channel number and name are all there.
I can share my m3u file if you like. Most should be good except the local channels. One thing I did discover is that the TMSID, the id used to direct tune for Spectrum app is the same as the stationeId that is in the guide data available for your local Spectrum guide in CDVR with just a few exceptions.
What is the best way to upload the file?

Your actual server:port value from the $IPADDRESS environment variable will be substituted at run time for {{ .IPADDRESS }}. That way you can use the same M3U for multiple containers, and it can be shared between users without modification.
Also, are those the correct channel-id and channel-number values for Spectrum? It's not required that they are, but the M3U might be easier to manage long term if those lined-up with what Spectrum uses.
The channel-id is the same as the tmsGuideId in the spectrum.net app and what is used to tune. I just used it for the channel-id vs channel-number or random. The channel-number is the same as the channel number in the spectrum app but starting at 1000. i.e. subtract 1,000 from the channel number and it will be what is in Spectrum for my location. AFAIK, everything below channel 1100 (100) would be location specific. That is just where I decided to park them in my lineup.

No on restarting the container. But if you have an existing M3U, you need to use the Reload M3U in CDVR Sources anytime you change the M3U.
Someone should tell Lon there are better setups.
I think the Restreamer method he used is attractive given how expensive the HDMI encoding devices are. The HDMI capture cards are like $15 a piece. Has anyone tried adapting this project to use Restreamer?
I'm working on adding your requirements to the ah4c container, and the above are no problem as they're package-related.
These will need to go in the startup shell script, but will need to use env vars, instead of being hard coded. And, of course, modified to perform the same set of tasks for multiple ATV units.
These last two though, don't belong in the container build, or in the startup script. They should really be in the prebmitune.sh script. If your goal is to the leave this app running, subsequent starts of prebmitune.sh can check to see if it's already running, and only start it if needed.

That'll get called instead of adbConnections() if "atv" is found between two slashes in $STREAMER_APP
I really only need the first section that installs Python, Pip and Pyatv. The Pyatv also installs the atvremote command.
The 2nd part is only done one time for each ATV and stores a pairing key for each protocol. The command requires you to manually enter a code displayed on the ATV. If we could put these keys in a persistant location then this wouldn't need to run every startup either. I would be OK running it manually once from Docker Console if needed.
Yea the last 2 I was just using before exiting the Console to verify it was able to tune and shutdown the channel.
Here is the section talking about storage of settings for atvremote.
I was able to find the creditials file at $HOME/.pyatv.conf inside the Console
I just compared the airplay creditials for the identical ATV that I paired in the container and on my windows pc and the creditial looks identical. So it looks like I could generate it on any computer and put it in the atv directory in the docker for reading.
There is no reason why that wouldn't work. You could just set that up independently and configure the encoder url (ah4c) or streaming endpoint (adbtuner) to point to the stream provided by restreamer.
However, it's probably only a cheaper solution if you already have computer hardware that can comfortably transcode raw video (RV32) to h264. It's also worth considering that USB device passthrough to docker containers can be challenging or impossible on some platforms.
Good video, but pretty disingenuous in suggesting that HDMI streaming devices all cost $350+ and then using a $150 ATSC 3 tuner and a ~$400 mini pc to tune ONE channel lol. There is an android based ATSC 3 tuner with DRM support (ADTH). I wonder if anyone has looked into controlling it via ADB to change channels?
I've built a test container under the :test.appletv tag. Normally, all of my builds are multi-arch, but for some reason trying to install pyatv causes the build to fail on both arm64 and arm/v7. Maybe because there's no arm version? Not sure at this point.
We still want this pairing process to be part of the startup script, so that it works for everyone, without requiring exec'ing into the container. So, I guess the question is what happens when these commands are invoked if a given device is already paired?
Since we already have a provision for persistent storage of the adb keys, I think we should use that same location for the atvremote keys. We'll need to execute the command to change the storage location in the startup script to /root/.android/.pyatv.conf I believe -- does that seem correct? That gets bound to ${HOST_DIR}/ah4c/adb in the docker-compose.
