Hello could you please help me moving channels dvr from my TerraMaster F2-221 NAS

Hello I am a current channels DVR user and I have been using it with a terramaster f2-221 NAS, however I wanted to upgrade to a different device and so I bought an Oumax

Mini PC 12 Generation specifically the one on this website:https://a.co/d/00bUlb5

And I would like to know if its possible to transfer all of the channels dvr content on my terramaster to the new mini pc and if so could you send me a link to some type of guide? Thanks in advance!

Easiest way, just follow the steps.

Hi I previously posted this question and it was flagged as solved before I even got a chance to see the response even though it was not solved. So I am going to try and be a bit more clear, by first saying that the reason why i am posting the information of myserver its because terramasters can only run on docker therefore any storage path that I put on channels I cannot see anywhere on my NAS and any storage path I have on my NAS and cant see on ChannelsDVR so the official guide that channelsdvr has which is this one:

does not work for me because I cant see or use any storage path on my NAS or on any storage device attached to my NAS, much less any remote storage path, hopefully everyone can understand and I am now going to repost my question: Here is the original question:

You would have to copy the full dvr folder with your recordings then do a restore in the mini pc... First thing to do is copy the terramaster dvr folder to the mini pc if you have enough storage.

He doesn't know where the Channels recording folder is and can't use his TerraMaster to find them.
Sure it's a docker volume mapping and TerraMaster usage thing.

I cant do that because I dont have any access to the recordings folder or any folder created or used by channele because it running from docker, I appreciate your help brother but I dont know how many times do I have to say the same thing but thanks anyways

You need to figure out where Channels DVR is storing the recordings on your TerraMaster.

  • You installed it via docker, how?
  • What volume mappings did you use?
  • What directory did you select in Channels DVR?

Then you need to figure out how to access that directory using your TerraMaster File Manager, ssh, scp, NFS or SMB.

Only you can figure out where your recordings are stored.

I dont think you understand what docker and how it works but thanks anyways bro

Judging by your bread crumb trail you left on this forum How to install channels dvr on a Terramaster F2-221 NAS - #4 by Dxcv I'm going to guess your recordings are in
/mnt/disk/dvr/recordings on your TerraMaster

I fully understand docker been using it for years ... when you created the docker container you had to define a folder to store recordings.

Most users just copy/paste docker run statements and have no idea what they're doing.
I know, because I was one of them when I started using docker.

Yeah then they assume we don't understand docker .... :-1:

What is the recording directory you picked in Channels DVR? (case sensitive)

What volume mappings did you use when you installed the Channels DVR docker container?
These?

docker
  --detach \
  --name=channels-dvr \
  --net=host \
  --restart=unless-stopped \
  --device /dev/dri:/dev/dri \
  --volume /mnt/disk/dvr/config:/channels-dvr \
  --volume /mnt/disk/dvr/recordings:/shares/DVR \
  fancybits/channels-dvr:latest

Regardless of what method was used to install Channels the server lists your path to the recordings. So unless you're trying to tell us you don't have access to the physical device you should be able to find what you need to transfer over

The only reason the recordings wouldn't be on disk is if you have Channels DVR recording to a directory in the Docker Container that isn't volume mapped to a hard disk directory on your NAS.
In that case the recordings are written to the overlay file system with nowhere to go and the docker container will grow (huge memory usage).
How do I know that (experience /shares/dvr/shares/DVR).

As you can see in the picture the server does tell me what the path is but as you can see in the next picture that path is no where near to be found anywhere on my NAS, the folder that I have that says recordings as you can see is open in the picture and it is a folder that I created a long time ago before I was using channels I was using tivimate and I would store my tivimate recordings the but as you can see there is nothing absolutely nothing related to any channels content on my NAS, I dont know why people keep repeating things to me that are already in the guides, Stop telling me things that are in the basic channelsdvr settings if those things were a fix I would note be posting this, as for where I told docker to store my recordings when I created the channels container? The answer is I didnt I just let docker use whatever default path it uses, which docker doesnt say. IM GOIING TO SAY THIS ONE MORE TIME SO THAT PEOPLE PLEASE STOP REPEATING THE SAME THING, this isnt a matter of channels not storing my recordings or a matter of channels telling me where my recordings are, like I said channels does tell me, THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE LOCATION THAT CHANNELS TELLS ME CANNOT BE FOUND ON MY NAS of course its on there, I just have not way to see it, PLEASE UNDERSTAND !!!!Thanks in advance

as you can see that location isnt showing anywhere on my NAS
