Help us improve Channels for Android

We are looking for freelance android developers who could help us bridge the large feature gap between Channels on Apple TV vs Android TV. (As many of you android users are aware, there are a lot of great features just waiting to be ported over to our Android app: Auto Play, Shuffle, Enhanced Library, Kiosk Mode, and more)

Before we start searching the job market, we wanted to check in with the Community here and see if there were any users of Channels for Android out there who were also android developers. Or if any of you had friends who are developers and might be interested.

Part of what makes Channels so special is that we use it ourselves everyday, and that helps inform our development of the product. We would love to find someone who is passionate about Channels, and also has (or wants to improve) the skills needed to develop the product further.

Here's a little more on what we're looking for:

  • intermediate-level developer with java/kotlin knowledge
  • comfortable with unix-based development environments (such as linux or macOS)
  • experience with Android Studio and android development concepts/patterns/tooling
  • experience with popular Android open-source libraries used for image loading, layouts, view binding, etc
  • understanding of Android TV development (leanback, focus navigation, etc)
  • preferably USA based for timezone overlap with us
  • experienced at contracting as freelancer with hourly billing

If you or someone you know might be interested, send us a DM or email [email protected]
