I have several TVE channels that I would not like in my guide (I don't like clutter, shopping or news). I hide them in the server. But I don't see how to make that happen in the client? Do I need to make the ones I want as favorites or make my own "collection" ?

you have to go under sources and sync your clients by importing from source.
You may be interested in Channel Collections for curating your channels in an even nicer way.
I was thinking of doing that and combining my virtual channels.
