Hide multiple Shows in DVR\Manage

In DVR\Manage\Shows there is no option under Action for any of the “Set Visibility to..” options like there is for Movies.

Can this be added? Use case:

I record a ton of different music video shows (with various names) from the Pluto Vevo channels etc. I use these almost exclusively in Collections and Virtual channels. Since they show up when browsing TV Shows, it’s a bit of a mess.

(Example from Manage\Movies)

Episodes do not have visibility options. You'll need to set visibility on the show.

Would it help if you imported these music videos as Videos instead of Shows?

Understood. And that’s exactly what I want to do. How do I do this easily with multiple shows?

You can’t batch manage multiple shows with this interface, or anywhere really.

Bummer. It’s more effort than it’s worth to hide them individually.

I’m not importing, these are Channels recordings from Pluto and other sources.

Ah, OK, I thought they were individual music videos you were referring to, not recorded shows playing dozens of them. Makes more sense now. I guess in this context, my feature request would be for the ability to convert recorded "shows" to "videos" in CDVR so they could be organized as one flat collection, as opposed to episodes from seasons of different shows, since music videos are typically consumed so differently.

And if that doesn't come to pass, I'd probably just remove them from recordings, and import them as videos instead, so I could keep them organized (and/or easily hidden) the way I prefer.

You could use the API end point to hide them using the show groupID (SeriesID) found in /dvr/groups

curl -XPUT /dvr/groups/{groupID}/visibility/hidden

For Pluto shows (groups) you need to url encode the / (forward slash) as %2F
So the show "Nature", Pluto group pluto/641b6c8e72e1ff001ae10861
becomes pluto%2F641b6c8e72e1ff001ae10861
curl -XPUT /dvr/groups/pluto%2F641b6c8e72e1ff001ae10861/visibility/hidden

It’s well into the the territory of not being worth my effort so I’ll probably just delete these as I watch them and maybe stick to just recording a couple different video “shows” so I can set those to hidden. The main problem has been with video “blocks” - where the show name is the name of the artist. I guess the other thing that makes this scenario unique is unlike Shows, where I typically watch and delete - I sometimes want to keep music videos around so the clutter has gotten worse over time.

This is the first time I’ve tried to batch manage anything in Channels and I realize my specific use case may be a bit narrow but it seems to me that it would be more common to want to do so with Shows than Movies.

Thanks for this! I was thinking about how I might be able to at least help the situation via API and missed your post earlier.
