I can’t tell you how many times that I’ve been behind in the timeline and have inadvertently pressed the Home button while attempting to adjust the volume, only to exit to the TV app or the Home Screen and losing what I was watching. Is there any way that the “You are behind in the timeline…” feature could be added in this scenario?
Unfortunately tvOS hardcodes the behavior of the Home button and we have no way to control it.
Sounds like it’s time to go back to the Shield for me.
I think the behavior on the SHIELD is currently the same in our app, but I haven’t investigated to see if Android TV allows us to hook into that key. I think probably yes.
You could also try using a universal remote instead of the Apple remote. My husband didn’t like using the Apple remote so we added an ATV function on our Harmony Smart Remote. I’ve even started using it since one can skip ffd (commercials) with a one button press.
