How do I change Name of Location on Hard Drive

I want to rename the folder where I store my TV Shows on my Hard Drive in my Computer. Can I just do it or must I change another name some where?

The folder names are created internally by Channels. If you have a particular structure you would like to have reflected, you could always use links to reference to folders.

You can't change the name of the folders that were created by Channels DVR Server. You can change the name of the root folder that pointed Channels DVR Server at to save its files though.

To do this, you need to:

  1. Uncheck the DVR box in Channels DVR Settings
  2. Rename that folder
  3. Update the location of that folder in Channels DVR Settings
  4. Re-check the DVR box in Settings to re-enable the service

Again, you can't change any of the folder names inside of this folder.

To take this a step further if I wanted to attach a USB hard drive to my desktop and start saving my recordings on the external hard drive would I follow your instructions and include removing the C:\ and replacing it with D:\ and the new name of my Folder?

Yep. But be sure the full path is correct and not just that you changed the drive letters. You’re better off using the browse function so it gets it right.
