How do I disable Descriptive Audio

THis problem started a couple of weeks ago. I am not sure if it was after a Channels upgrade, a HD Homerun Upgrade, or if something changes with the source.

I get my local networks OTA via a HDHomeRun Connect 4K (HDHR5-4K) where I grab the Houston ATSC3 HEVC ATA Channels. I have started getting descriptive audio and it is really annoying us. Sometimes when I look there are two audio streams and I can choose the second stream and that will disable the descriptive audio, but sometimes that second stream is spanish so I am outa luck.

The CHannels DVR server is running on a WIndows 10 system that also runs an Emby server.

Is there a setting somewhere that I accidentally toggled? How can I turn this off?

FWIW, the descriptive audio is getting recorded, it is not just when we watch live on channels. My general process is that after the recordings complete MCEbuddy reencodes everything and moves it over to my library where I typically watch everything on Nvidia Shield Emby Clients

Contact the broadcast engineer at your local station, because that's what they are broadcasting.

You can update your HDHR firmware if it's not already.

Does the HDHR app pick the correct audio track?

It is not just a single channel that is doing this. It's basically the major networks.

HDHR Firmware is up to date.

I don't typically use the HDHR app. In fact didn't even have it installed. My plan this evening is to view observe the problem in channels and then immediately switch over and see if I can observe the same it in the HDHR app.

One of my challenges has been here is that I don't watch of the content live. I record the content that I want and then watch it all in a time shifted fashion. So at that point it has been reencoded and who knows where it went wrong.

I am seeing the same in Houston too, but only ABC. I also rarely watch live TV. Once we watch a recording, its already in the playback.

I live in Houston also. Using HDHomeRun 4K OTA and Firestick 4K. I'm finding that ABC needs to be set to spanish in order to get rid of the descriptive audio. CBS is the opposite, it needs to be on english. Changing between Spanish and English is a bit glitchy. You first have to "uncheck" the current language, then choose the new language. Neither language will show to be "checked" at that point until you leave the "options" screen and return to it. When you return to the "options" screen, you should see a check mark beside the new language you've chosen.

Are you changing the language on the Firestick? My solution was to block 113 (ABC HTSC) and record on 13 only. Don't know if I am missing anything, but my wife is happy so that's a win:).

Crossing my fingers that my pic uploaded.

I’m changing the language in this screen (see pic) while the recording is playing.

While watching a recording, Press the bottom of the circle on the Firestick remote. That opens the info screen. Change the selection at the top of screen to options. Uncheck English, then select Spanish.

Funny, I had resorted to blocking the 4K broadcast also, but wasn’t going to be happy until I found a solution.

Like I said, on CBS recordings it’s the opposite. The English track eliminates the audio description. (That was my experience with a Young Sheldon recording)
