How does DVR do conflict resolution?

I had a recording that was more preferred but a less preferred recording was started at an earlier time causing my higher priority recording to be missed. Is this expected?

If the tuner is being used, recordings will not be made. This is also true if you are watching live TV. In the current state of the DVR, the way around this is to either plan the runtimes of your recordings not to conflict, or get more tuners.

It would be nice if the DVR would take into account the number of tuners available and the runtimes of all the recordings and even see if future airings are available that don’t conflict, and even give notifications if you are watching live tv and using a needed tuner for a recording. But it doesn’t do those things.

Well that explains what I see, here is 1 vote for making conflict resolution better to guarantee recordings are made.

Pass priorities are only taken into account while starting a recording. Once a tuner is in use, it’s never interrupted.

I agree we could make improvements in this area.
