How is Commercial Detection these days?

I’ve been in and out of using the DVR during its development. Last time I used it was maybe about a year ago and at that time the commercial detection wasn’t working the greatest for me. The timestamps that were indexed were incorrect, it would skip the commercials and go 30 seconds into the show. Sometimes it wouldn’t skip all commercials. Sometimes it would miss them entirely. I currently have a TiVo which I’m always looking into seeing if I can replace (it works and works well). Just wanted to check in on the progress of this. Thanks!

The commercial detection works well for me. False positives and negatives are rare for the stuff I watch.

I haven’t had the time stamp problem in a long time. All the annoyances still exist, because the basic solution is the same. Storm tracker banners and stuff still mess up the detection.

I would say it’s about 80% spot on for me, I don’t fret over a few extra clicks.

Yeah I wish there were a way to account for the storm tracker stuff…minor annoyance but it still is one

I seriously wonder how long TiVo will have employees manually setting their commercial skip

I have had zero problems with commercial skip.

Anyone else have any feedback on how commercial detection is working?

Nothing has changed as far as how commercial detection works since you last used it.

Seems to be working pretty well for us. Getting the double-clicks right is a bit challenging on the IR remotes we’re using, but when we get it right it does what it’s supposed to do. Sometimes goes a few seconds past the commercial, but a quick rewind fixes that.

Ah ok. Thanks for that update.

Works great for me … Only time I have a small issue is on shows that I record from the 60’s and 70’s… It will usually miss one or two commercials and it’s usually at the end of the show but I still think it’s the greatest thing when watching TV
