I installed Channels DVR about 16 hours ago and the status on the settings page has been “Downloading guide data for 2017-01-xx” since then. When I refresh the page, the date changes frequently, but should it be taking this long? And there is no guide data populated when I check the On Now or Guide tabs on the DVR settings page as well as on the Apple TV. I just get “No channels match Favorites” or “No channels match All Channels.”
I was setting up the DVR and had same problem. All I had to do was restart the DVR
I get my channels through Clear QAM cable, so I had the guide source set to my local cable company (there were 6-10 different choices and I tried all of them for at least a few minutes). Even after restarting the DVR and rebooting my Mac I wasn’t seeing any guide data. So finally I changed the source to OTA and now it’s working. It should be fine for me since I only have the same channels as would be OTA anyway, and I’ve tested recording currently airing shows and they work.
So I’m not sure why it couldn’t download the cable guide data (or at least finish downloading in a reasonable timeframe).
The issue is that qam channel numbers do not match those from s normal cable lineup. So the guide data doesn’t match.
Your solution of using OTA as the lineup is the correct one. Qam channel numbers usually match those that are used in OTA.
Looks like you found a bug. Since none of the channel numbers in the guide data provider matched your HDHR, it got stuck in a loop downloading the data over and over again.
