Love Channels DVR! Used to have a Tivo that let me download shows for offline viewing. On other threads I see that I "should" able to do same with Channels. Per Channels settings page, the DVR is on /volume1/D:\Channels_DVR. How do I find this folder on the NAS? It is hidden? Not asking for a Synology tutorial. but I thought I would be able to browse to this directory using Synology Assistant or Synology DSM. Is this already a shared folder on the Synology NAS? Do I need to do something to make it visible to a windows 10 PC?
You probably need to use SFTP
Not sure how you ended up with such a strange directory name on your NAS
I can't see any directory on the NAS called D:\Channels_DVR or Channels_DVR. When Channels is installed on the NAS, does it setup the directory as a shared folder on the NAS or is the folder somehow hidden?
Should be a share on the NAS.
This is mine ....
/volume1/ChannelsDVR
On Windows
\\SYNOLOGY\ChannelsDVR
On the Synology if you didn't create a share first then the folder may be hidden. You will need to download and use an SFTP client to see it. You can make a new share called DVR in the NAS interface, then use SFTP to move all the files to it. Then on the DVR web UI, uncheck the checkbox and change the directory to point to the new share.
Hi, I simply created a new share on the Synology with read write permissions, then pointed DVR to it in DVR settings page. I didn't bother with SFTP since the recordings stored before I made this change I didn't need. Started a test recording, went to the file share on NAS, and I could see it all now, even from windows 10 PC via mapped drive.
