How to deal with "timeouts"

A stream I am watching frequently times out. Upon a closer inspection it seems CDVR chokes on the stream when switching between different IPs. I see this in the logs:

Transcoder Reset: Playlist skipped to a higher sequence (4978965 -> 4978978): https://dc5p8ux2ue34g.cloudfront.net/playlist/........

The problem is the hostname has multiple IPs:

$ host dc5p8ux2ue34g.cloudfront.net
dc5p8ux2ue34g.cloudfront.net has address 65.8.161.2
dc5p8ux2ue34g.cloudfront.net has address 65.8.161.11
dc5p8ux2ue34g.cloudfront.net has address 65.8.161.74
dc5p8ux2ue34g.cloudfront.net has address 65.8.161.93

I put one of them in /etc/hosts and the "timeouts" are gone.

$ grep dc5p8ux2ue34g.cloudfront.net  /etc/hosts

65.8.161.93 dc5p8ux2ue34g.cloudfront.net

EDIT: It seems it is not a new problem with endpoints having multiple IPs

EDIT: Seems to be a separate issue.

I tried also to deal with this by using

Your custom m3u8 list contains mpd streams. Now what?

It started throwing errors:

Encountered a stream discontinuity. This is unsupported and will result in incoherent output data.

but it recovered.

ChatGPT suggests dumping

DUMMY_TS_PACKET = bytes([0x47, 0x1F, 0xFF]) + bytes(185)

into the stream
