How to handle multi part episodes?

For example, I'm watching Poirot which I have as files imported into the library, and I watched S02E01 which ended with to be continued, and then when I started S02E02 it was a completely different story.

I looked at the files and it had

S02E01 pt1
S02E01 pt2

Is there a way to properly handle a situation like this in the library?

I don't want to change the episode numbers, because then the metadata won't line up and it won't match my progress in trakt either.

Classically, it has been S01-E01-02 ... I am not fully certain how Channels handles it.

Not sure if this is the one you have, but you would need to name the episodes based on the match source, either Gracenote or TMDB.

Gracenote has 4 of them

Yeah, trakt uses TMDB too. You can see it's listed as a longer episode 1, but it apparently aired as two parts, or was released as two parts in some form. My guess is both parts would need to be recognized as episode 1 by Channels, but I'd need to make sure they were in the correct order. But if I could have them listed as Episode 1-1 and 1-2, it would be even more ideal.

I have a feeling this show has other episodes in a similar situation, so I want to modify those to work as well so I don't run into this issue.

While I know I could merge the two files into one, it would be easier to manage if they were still kept as separate entries.

If Channels imported both S02E01 pt1 and S02E01 pt2 files you could try editing the metadata in Channels for those two and change the Episode# to 2-1 and 2-2 or 2.1 and 2.2 to see if it works. You could always change it back.

If Channels didn't import both files, then you probably need to rename them.

Okay, so before (at least on my Android TV app) it wasn't listing both episodes, but I just removed the source and rescanned it, and they both do appear now. I renamed the episode titles to include Part 1 and Part 2 just for reference, but I checked and none of the remaining episode files are listed this way so it won't become an issue again.

Couldn't change the episode # itself to anything other than an integer though
