How to import VOB files

I can't seem to find on the channels website or this community on how to import a vob grouping of files. I know they're made for a DVD player but it seems channels can read all kind of formats.

So if channels can import a VOB group of files eg (VTS_01_0.BUP, VTS_01_0.IFO, VTS_01_1.VOB) or just the VOB file itself then please point me to the doc that says how to import them. I tried just placing them in my video directory tree that I use for my other videos in mp4 and mkv format but channels seems to be ignoring the VOB files in my video directory.

Or if you need to convert them then what are people using on linux to convert these files to mkv or mp4 or whatever?

That takes me back! Handbrake is the answer I believe...

VOB files are not real video containers. They are a format that contain video, audio, and data like DVD menus.

These are not supported in Channels.

You will want to convert them to a proper video file for them to work in Channels.

Thank you @bnhf and @maddox . Now that I know for sure channels can't import them directly I'll try HandBrake on my windows system or ffmpeg on my linux server to convert them.
