I am running Channels on a DS218+ and recorded several shows. What I did next might not have been the correct procedure but it has created a subsequent problem. I went into the Synology File Station and moved some of the files from the Channels folders to other folders on the Synology. This seems to have "broken" the directory of shows when I open the Channels app on a device. Now there are several icons that have the Channels logo with one or more of the files that I moved but if I try to watch the show(s) the app fails. Is there a way to rebuild the Channels directory to remove the shows that were moved? What is the correct way to move files out of Channels to another directory on Synology?
If you're moving them because you no longer want to see them in or play them from Channels you need to delete the shows from within Channels after you move them outside of Channels. That will remove them from Channels database.
Note by default when you delete Movies, Shows and Episodes from within Channels it just puts them in the TRASH folder (like a recycle bin). You have to then empty the TRASH or wait so many days for it to empty itself.
If you want to move them but still have Channels access them you need to create a new Storage Path in the Channels DVR web UI Settings that points to where you moved them to.
chDVRuser: Thank you so much for this solution. I suppose it should have been obvious to me but it wasn't. Now, when I click "more" when viewing the title of a show in the Channels app I see the option to Trash the show. Then it no longer shows in the Library when I open the Channels app. Thanks very much for this guidance.
