How to start recording a show in progress

I have an HDhomerun that I use with the Channels DVR and Apple TV streaming box. I'm trying to start recording the show that I'm watching. When I go to Options, it shows the TV show that I'm watching with a "Record" button. There's also an exclamation point on the lefthand side of the box that has the listing of the show that I'm watching in it. Don't have any idea what that exclamation point means, but I can't seem to start a recording of a show in progress. I select and press the "Record" button, which it seems to me should start a recording of the show that I'm watching. But it doesn't. If I go to Options again, I see the show that I'm watching with the "Record" button ready to be selected and clicked on again.

This should be dead simple, to start a recording of the show that I'm watching, I must be missing something really simple. And what are those exclamation points on the show listing indicating? When I go to "Scheduled recordings", I see the show that I pressed "Record" on, but again, there's that exclamation point on the left, and no recording is being made.

Very frustrating. Can someone please offer some help? I usually record via scheduling for the future, and create a pass for the shows I want to record new or all ongoing episodes of. That works fine. But starting a recording of the show that I'm currently watching, that just eludes me.

Can you post a picture of where you are trying to record from and where you see an exclamation point.

Are you saying if you are watching a show and you hit down twice on the remote and select record you get an exclamation point?

Are you using an external hard drive to record to? If so make sure it is still mounted in the os.

I can play from the recordings from the disk, so I'm pretty sure that it's mounted :-).

Looking at this again, I think that what's happened is the result of turning on MLO on my router. The exclamation points are "the recording was interrupted" indications, which means that either it couldn't start or got interrupted early on in the recording process.I was able to get a recording started for a show in progress, but after a while it got the "!" and the message "the recording was interrupted".

Going to turn off MLO on my router, revert it to pure wifi-6 settings, and see what happens. My guess is that everything will be fine.

Yes, once I reverted the router to wifi-6, everything worked as I expected with the Channels DVR.

Bummer...new firmware isn't working right yet. Maybe some day...

It seems like the exclamation point you’re seeing might indicate an issue with the stream, or the device isn’t properly recognizing that it should record the live program you’re watching.
