I can’t make it see my Media shares on the same TrueNAS box

I have Channels DVR running in TrueNAS Community ver. installed from the Apps catalog. It found my Homerun HD 4k Flex and the guide loaded, and all is well with the recording of OTA shows. The issue is I can’t make it see my Media shares on the same TrueNAS box. The video tutorial on the support site isn’t the same version of channels so you can’t really follow it. I have installed 100’s of CT’s and VM’s and all shared the data on the NAS. When I go to Setting – Sources – Personal Media and click Add Source it only shows

as available folders to pick from which is not the pool that the media is in. How do I get it there?

TrueNAS Scale (Community ver.) creates separate interfaces for VMs and Containers. I think you need to create a bridge to get past this. Try taking a look at how Plex is setup on TrueNAS Scale and it will show the fix.

This is a good tutorial on how to setup Plex on Truenas 25.0.

I have Plex running on Truenas and look forward to trying out CHDVR on Truenas this weekend.

I had it running as a custom app, but I just found the new one from the apps catalog and installed it and it is running but I am in the middle of testing it.
I made a dataset with an smb share so I can access the dvr files remotely. I added the apps user to the file system permission to read and write to this folder. On the app form I pointed this dataset to the /channels-dvr folder, which is where it showed up when I setup channels.
I had to check the host network box for the app to see my hdhomerun tuner.
I get a network discovery error on the channels dvr general page, but my apple tv had no problem seeing the new server.

So, I've got my HDHR connected and accessed my local media on the same Truenas server, but I get an error adding my spectrum service via TVE.

"The TVE feature requires the fancybits/channels-dvr:tve docker container."

Any help to get this service running would be appreciated.

I think you used the wrong docker image...

  • Use the fancybits/channels-dvr:tve image if you need TV Everywhere support
