Imported Content Not in Library

Do you see any of the TV Shows in the files json http://192.168.39.187:8089/dvr/files ?
The latest recording/import should be at the top.

What if the folder/file format for the shows you're trying to import?
Should be SHOWNAME (optionalYEAR)/Season #/S#E# EpisodeTitle

What I see at the top is My Name Is Earl. Since then I have attempted to import a Time Wasters.

[{"ID":"11259","GroupID":"184174","Path":"Season 4/My Name Is Earl - s04e27 - Dodge's Dad.mp4","CreatedAt":1633096604,"Duration":1303.603,"Completed":true,"Processed":true,"Airing":{"Source":"","Time":0,"Duration":0,"Title":".","EpisodeTitle":"Dodge's Dad","Tags":["HD","Stereo"],"SeriesID":"184174","SeasonNumber":4,"EpisodeNumber":27},"UpdatedAt":1646001319793,"ImportPath":"/volume1/Media/Video/Television/My Name Is Earl","ImportQuery":".","ImportGroup":"184174","ImportedAt":1646001319191},{"ID":"11258","GroupID":"184174","Path":"Season 4/My Name Is Earl - s04e26 - Inside Probe, Part 2.mp4","CreatedAt":1633096548,"Duration":1243.409,"Completed":true,"Processed":true,"Airing":{"Source":"tms","OriginalDate":"1993-05-23","Time":738115200,"Duration":0,"Title":"In Living Color","EpisodeTitle":"In Living Color's Feedback Line","Summary":"A response to viewer complaints; LaShawn works at the beauty shop.","FullSummary":"A response to viewer complaints; LaShawn (T'Keyah "Crystal" Keymah) works at the beauty shop; the B.S. Brothers

It doesn't know what the show is.
You need to have the Showname/Season/Episode
My Name Is Earl/Season 4/My Name Is Earl - s04e27 - Dodge's Dad.mp4

Change your import path to /volume1/Media/Video/Television

Would I need to do

/volume1/Media/Video/Television/TV
Then put all the shows I want in Channels into that directory

I already have shows pointed to exact directory with no problem

/volume1/Media/Video/Television/King Of Queens
/volume1/Media/Video/Television/Friends 1994–2004 Complete Series BDRip 720p multisub-HighCode

Both already work. So I would assume that this would work as well
/volume1/Media/Video/Television/My Name Is Ear

Yes, that would be a good way to start with a test set of shows.

You can do what you want, but if it's not in the expected import directory format, Channels DVR won't import it correctly.

You can’t import individual tv shows like that. You need to import the root tv directory containing all your shows.

If it worked at all, is the bug. But as you’ve seen, it’s not working correctly. You should remove all those imported dirs, prune, then add the root directory to import all your shows.

Ok.
So it worked before because it was a glitch and I was lucky. Ok. . .

I will make a Master Directory for the TV Shows I want channels to have access to. Its getting late. Ill update tomorow as to the success.

Update: Imports are now working.

So i put content I want in a subdirectory within my Television folder. Then pointed ChannelsDVR at the subdirectory. That seems to work.

I still prefer how it used to work for me. Where i could just point at the individual show. I know that was a bug. Not how you intended it to work. But up until recently. It worked that way. I miss the bug.

I am having problems importing tv shows. I have never seen a file appear in my DVR folder even though the log shows a successful import. Is there a lag between adding the path and actually seeing a file? Some files fail on one attempt and the same file is successful on another. Seems to be no rhyme or reason. What does exit status 1 mean?

Do they show up in the DVR web UI under DVR > Manage > Unmatched?

Don't know, other than it can't get details about the file.

In the past there were issues with MPEG-4 (.mp4/.m4v) containers; are you using the latest pre-release version of the DVR? Also, what OS is your server running on, and which filesystem is the drive hosting your imports formatted as?

Thank you. They are indeed in the unmatched folder.

Channels is finding all of my other content in an external drive just fine - but not personal videos. I have tried everything I can think of to get this to work. I have tried putting content in a folder called "Home Movies" under "Videos" - everything. I tried putting the content on my hard drive. I tried putting the content in the "Channels" folder. Nothing works. Super frustrated. Plex has a lot of issues but this is not one of them. Should not be this hard.

Videos need to be grouped into individual folders to be scanned in. You might be just pointing at a folder full of videos, which will not work.

You need to organize them as Video Groups with folders.

Ie, Concerts, Home Videos, Vacation Videos, etc.

This should have worked. What are the file name extensions of your videos?

What I learned is - everything had to be under a folder called "Videos." That fixed it. By "everything" - I mean - I have two sub-folders under "Videos" - so "Home Movies" and "Music Videos." What I was trying to do before was point directly to the "Home Movies" and "Music Videos" folders. Which doesn't seem unreasonable. But at least it is working now.

Yes, you can't just point your video imports at a single directory full of videos. It should be a directory of directories, just like TV shows.

Import: /Videos

/Videos contents:

/Videos/Home Movies
/Videos/Concerts

Just to add something for others future use:

Channels does not like apostrophes, etc in file name. I had "Tyler Perry's Meet the Browns" as folder name and it would not recognize it. Changed to 'Meet the Browns" and it worked.
