Importing Movies and TV Shows With Unraid Docker No Longer Works

Hello,

I tried to import some new local movies this past weekend but the backend would not pick them up even with manual scans. There were no issues managing, modifying metadata, or viewing any content that had been imported. The last movie was successfully imported in 2022. Removing the source and adding it caused it to not show any movies that were previously imported.

I added a new folder location with 4 movies in it as a test. Log files show the movies were scanned snd assigned a number but the movies never showed up in the UI.

I created a new docker and only added the Movies folder. The blue progress bar showed for 5-10 seconds but nothing happened. Log files did not show any SCN entries.

The only significant unraid change was switching to SMB 2.0. I upgraded to the latest unraid version a month or so ago. Tested with the latest TVE docker version (2/24) and the latest pre-release (3/19).

I added the parent folder of my original folder to the Movies section and it picked up 4 additional movies from a different folder (same level as the original Movies folder) that are now showing in the backend web UI. However, it will not show any movies that were scanned from the original Movies or TVs folders.

I removed the folder and ran the Prune option. It took a few minutes but the movies that were just added were removed. Log file does not show any prune messages.

I added a different folder that seemed to have no issues with scanning the movies multiple times and show them in the Movies list.

What is different? The original Movies folder followed the structure: Movies/#/Movie Name (Year)/Movie name (year).mkv (each movie in it’s own folder)

The folders it can scan repeatedly without issues have the structure: Movies/#/Movie Name (year).mkv (multiple movie files in one folder)

Has the setup been changed to not want or support the movie folder names anymore?

Holy…. just read the latest setup page and it recommends not using the movie folder name in the structure, so that must have changed at some point and I missed it.
