The file (Terminator 3: …) on the DVR recording directory shows as:
TV0EWN~A with T2W25D~U (json?, however, not identified as such)

I’ve not noticed interference with playback from Channels, but does cause downstream problems with other media streamers/players.

Review of all mis-named files on 1 disk showed that character “:” was in original file name.

Sounds like filesystem issue, what does http://127.0.0.1:8089/system/disk say?

On mac (using NAS for storage):

[{“device”:"/dev/disk0s2",“mountpoint”:"/",“fstype”:“hfs”,“opts”:“rw,multilabel”},{“device”:"/dev/disk0s4",“mountpoint”:"/Volumes/BOOTCAMP",“fstype”:“ntfs”,“opts”:“ro,softdep,multilabel”}]

Where is the DVR running when this happens, and where is it writing to?

I tried to record a show with “:” on my QNAP and it was fine. Tried same show on Mac and also fine. So is it happening only when Mac tries to record to network share?

Happens on both

Edit: All filenames which have the xxx: xxx in the original title has the nonsensical filename in the folder.

Just verified on both disks, for both movies and shows. Approx 40 of 900 recordings.

Cannot reproduce on Mac or QNAP, writing to local disk.

Have put in a fix for the Mac + remote share case.

Actual show name:

…xxx: xxxx

Reading same folder from the mac:

…xxx/ xxxx

However, on Windows xxxxx~, which transfer to Plex

I see, recording on Mac/Linux but moving to Windows.

I guess we are stuck with lowest-common-denominator, and need to follow Windows naming rules on all platforms.

Fixed in v2017.06.09.2116.

Indeed! Hahaha! I was embarrassed to tell you I was running on a Windows box yesterday! Thanks for dealing with the shortcomings.
