My Channels DVR recorded video from a different channel than I had set it to record.
The Channels DVR was set to record (via a pass) NBC Nightly News on KNTV HD 11.1 at 5:30 PM. The recordings were made via an HDHomeRun Flex 4K and Channels DVR installed on a WD MyCloud EX2 Ultra NAS. When the recordings were played back via the Channels app on my AppleTV 4K, the video was from what appears to be a Spanish-language Telemundo channel, but the audio was in English from KNTV. I also located the associated mpg files on the NAS, which unsurprisingly when played back on my Mac via the QuickTime Player, exhibited the same behavior.
I was able to try some things while this was happening on Sunday, May 14. I used the guide of the Channels app on my AppleTV to select the NBC Nightly News show and played it live. The audio and video were both from 11.1. When I stopped the live playback and played from the recording, the video was from the Telemuundo channel. So it appears that only the Channels DVR was behaving strangely.
I live it the San Francisco Bay Area. I suspect the Telemundo video may have been from KSTS HD 48.3, which is a subchannel on the same RF frequency (RF 13) as KNTV HD 11.1.
This problem has occurred three times now on recent weekends: May 13, May 14, and May 6 or 7 (not sure which). The problem does not occur on recordings of NBC Nightly News made on weekdays (using the same pass). Also, after the problem occurred on Sunday, May 14, I manually initiated a recording of the next program on KNTV 11.1. It played back normally.
So it appears there is some strange behavior that only occurs for recordings of this one program on Saturdays and Sundays at 5:30 PM on KNTV HD 11.1. Maybe it only occur for recordings made via a pass. Not sure.
Any thoughts?
