Installation on my MacMini M4 (MacOS Tahoe 26.3.1 (a)) initially seemed to go OK until I reached the step of setting up the HDHomeRun Flex Duo tuner. The software found the tuner correctly and listed its correct ID on the screen. The only problem was that it found zero channels despite multiple repeat channel scans and despite the fact that the HDHomeRun software consistently found 84 channels and played them fine. I tried restarting and rebooting everything, insuring secure connections on the tuner, etc., but the zero channels remained. I tried the Mac method of uninstalling and reinstalling the software, but the problem remained the same. Finally I used App Cleaner & Uninstaller to do a more complete uninstallation of Channels DVR Server. Since then multiple attempts to reinstall seem to work until the final step when the software is supposed to open, but the browser screen (tried both Safari and Chrome) goes black and says it cannot connect to the server.
Had a Terminal session today with help of Claude.AI, and he provided some terminal commands to try. We documented that the server was not running, and we kept ending up with the error: "Bootstrap failed: 5: Input/output error" after trying ./install.sh, sudo ./install.sh, and both launchctl bootstrap variants. Claude also said the "Input/output error: 5" at the launchctl level suggested something deeper than a missing file -- possibly a permissions flag or quarantine attribute that App Cleaner left in a problematic state -- and that's genuinely a two-minute fix for someone who knows the codebase."
Have already paid for subscription. Just need to get past this snag. Claude says Channels DVR is a more deeply installed app than regular Mac Apps that App Cleaners is designed to deal with. Claude referred me here.
