Why does the iOS app playback of recordings work so much better than web player? I have no issues watching live recordings on the ATV4, but when I try to launch the recording on my laptop in my office, I get buffering and transcoding pauses. Is the iOS app doing some kind of offloading of the transcoding or something?
The iOS app can play the video formats natively, no transcoding needed. However, the web player often had to do transcoding of some kind, which is why there is such a difference.
That’s what I thought. Is there any way to play native format on the laptop? I have Mac OS. Is there a Mac OS app that’ll do it?
Pretty much any media player. VLC works; I'm personally partial to mpv.
Edit: NVM. VLC works now. User error.
I tried VLC, but I'm not getting audio. Looks like the AC3 codec is not installed. How do you guys handle that?
