If you set your router to assign the iMac a Reserved DHCP IP address, you had to enter the MAC (Media Access Control) address of the iMac ethernet adapter in the router. Did the MAC (Media Access Control) address on your iMac change?
I finally got everything to work. I started out last night by hooking my laptop to the same Ethernet cable my imac was using. I could instantly shared its screen using Ethernet only. When I plugged the Ethernet back into the iMac with the Channels server. Still same issue. and it was still not showing up as a connected device on my Ethernet even though I could surf the web but could not share screens or stream Channels unless I had Wifi on.
So I decided to start from scratch. I deleted all assigned IP addresses and forwards from my router. I also think I changed my iMac to get its IP address dynamically from the router (I think I had it set to manual).
I restarted my iMac and still could not see it in the connected devices list with Wi-Fi off. But I could share screens and stream/access Channels! I wrote down the IP address and entered that manually along with the MAC address in my router to reserve it. I did the same for Wi-Fi IP/MAC. I also port forwarded the Ethernet IP.
I turned off WI-FI and everything is working! I think the issue was perhaps me manually setting the IP address on the iMac rather than on the router.
This morning, the Ethernet IP is showing up on the connected device lists on the router. Whew!
Woo Hoo!
I think you're correct there.
