IPTV and ChannelsDVR with VPN

Hi,
I run CDVR on a standalone server that connects only locally and to Emby on another local server. The only remote connections are to Emby on the other local server. Remote DVR access is off on CDVR.
Should I use a VPN on the CDVR server for IPTV? If CDVR just passes the IPTV URL to Emby, should I transcode all IPTV content to the Emby server and is that even possible?

Illegal IPTV is not supported with Channels DVR and you won't find any support for them here.

The fact you question needing to use a VPN for your IPTV service is a red flag indicating it is not a legal service.

Emby, on the other hand, has direct support for adding .m3u url lists as a tuner to use in their software. I briefly used that with a few different IPTV services, when i needed access to a station not in my country. (and every single IPTV service i tried always was highly unreliable)

You assumed I use illegal IPTV sources. I need this so I can view sources from other countries and blocked IP's by my ISP from free IPTV sources along with other PAID and free services I have in CDVR. Also I am sending PAID cable streaming to Emby from CDVR and I can get some throttling from my ISP with that. VPN gives me a much smother video.

...which is technically illegal still. But whatever. As stated, Channels will provide no support for such things.

There is docker containers or other source for legit things like Friendly or Plex, Pluto etc.

Sorry I mentioned IPTV. If you want to get technical, anything you rebroadcast remotely is illegal. So no one should be allowed to port any CDVR content to anything remotely. Then the Remote DVR setting in CDVR is also illegal.

Basically the two questions you asked won't be answered here as neither one is supported.
