Is a Solid State Drive necessary?

Hi,

Is a Solid State Drive necessary for storing and recalling the shows and movies that are recorded by the Hdhomerun DVR, or is a traditional mechanical 7200 rpm hard drive ok???

Any drive is fine

Definitely not. For DVR type storage, I prefer spinning platters over SSD.
