Is it possible to add MSNOW member access to Channels

So MSNOW recently updated their app to allow standalone members to view live and also show recordings. I find their live app to have pretty much nothing in the waves of DVR control. IE rewind in live tv or rewind/fast forward faster than 10 seconds on recordings.

Is there a way to hook this up to Channels

If @KineticMan could figure out how to support MSNOW, I might be tempted to subscribe to it.

MSNOW and the other NBCU channels that were spunoff to Versant (USA, E!, Syfy, CNBC, Oxygen, Golf Channel) DRM protect their streams so you'll have to use one of the 3rd party tools that use HDMI or Chrome capture.

FastChannels bridge supports it…. Get ya a $20 encoder and $25 firestick β€” if cool with single stream!

$20 encoder? All the ones I've seen are ~$100/port.

He means a Capture Card, with a special CDVR Custom Channels Source to do the encoding. The two together create a virtual encoder.

The LinkPi Mini was $66 last I looked.

yep sorry wrong wording!

Personally, I have a Capture Card (~$20 Amazon) and a LinkPi single port encoder (~$66) in my setup. Probably should have listened to @bnhf and just got the 4-port originally, but this budget setup works for me!

FastChannels with DRM Bridge is definitely the way to go if you already have a TVE provider you can use. Works perfectly with no issue for all the Versant stations.

Also, if you have certain providers like Spectrum, you can get it directly from that source, as well.

All you need is a choice of capture method (Chrome, direct HDMI, HDMI Encoder device), of which you can always change and expand into later.

However, like I said, this requires a TV Provider of some kind to use. If you don't have one and want to subscribe directly, that would require a different connection method. @KineticMan, I've added the stand-alone MSNOW subscription service to the spreadsheet just for this purpose. I think it makes sense to keep it completely separate from Versant TVE and not even have the TVE option for it on its own website. Of course, this goes against my original note about MSNOW, CNBC, and Golf, but this looks like a change in circumstances. I did just check and the latter two do not have anything like this (yet).
