My mom likes to watch 4x3 content from my local TV library in widescreen 16x9. I selected stretch content to fit screen in the Channels settings, however this seems to have no effect. Is there a way to accomplish this?

Where is the content from?
Channels on Apple TV. The content is from ripped DVD’s.
Sometimes the content has black bars embedded in the video and doesn't stretch correctly.
Does it show black bars in VLC on a computer
When I watch the same content in Infuse, it stretches properly so I’m assuming there are no black bars encoded in the video.
