If I start watching a program from the beginning and decide part way through that I want to record it, the recording starts at that point. Since the DVR has already buffered the beginning of the program is there a way to have it include that portion in the recording?
The buffer is stored on the device you watching Channels, not on the server so there is no way to capture what you have already watched in the recording.
That is not possible. There is not enough memory of any kind on an Amazon Fire TV stick to buffer 60+ minutes of HD video. Plus, the Live TV Buffer setting is maintained on the server, not the streaming device (I have it set to 2 hours).
It's still not possible to do what you're asking. You can search the forum and see the same request many times and the explanation from the developers.
Or if you prefer to wait, they may repeat to you what they've already said previously.
We're really hoping that at some point the developers will come around to a server-centric approach and this will resolve itself. At the moment, there really doesn't seem to be much development going on in this regard ... or any regard for the hardcore DVR user for that matter.
I agree there has been no real new development in the DVR part of Channels DVR in a long Time. That is why most of the time I use SageTV to view live TV at least I have the option to record when I first started watching. Also any Client can also choose to watch from when I first started watching or watch from current time.
