Is this something I can even make a custom channel of?

Sure thing. The m3u8 URL you want is this:

https://player-api.new.livestream.com/accounts/11892034/events/10883828/broadcasts/236565713.secure.m3u8

An easy tool to identify livestreams like this in the future is this browser extension: Live Stream Downloader :: WebExtension.ORG

Here's a quickie m3u / text I whipped up.

#EXTM3U

#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="Milnore St" tvg-logo="https://cdn-icons-png.flaticon.com/512/975/975574.png" tvg-name="Milnore St" tvc-guide-title="Milnore St" tvc-guide-description="N Milnore St on ramp", tvc-guide-art="https://cdn-icons-png.flaticon.com/512/975/975574.png", N Milnore St
https://player-api.new.livestream.com/accounts/11892034/events/10883828/broadcasts/236565713.secure.m3u8

Poke around and edit the strings as you see fit, title it more appropriately, use a different image for the channel logo, etc.

Nice icon @Fofer!

Ha! I think the one I replaced it with now is a bit better? I'm still looking around. I'm also kind of mesmerized by this highway intersection construction stream. It's very soothing to watch. It's like... visual ASMR

I believe that's this, I95 Philadelphia bridge collapse: Construction location, timeline, livestream, costs

Thanks the text looks legit, but the channel doesn't actually load. I think it expired? Are they maybe doing something that keeps refreshing that m3u8 with new content?

Yeah, looks like the m3u8 changed. This is the current one:

https://player-api.new.livestream.com/accounts/11892034/events/10883828/broadcasts/236565713.secure.m3u8

I updated my text above. It will probably expire in a few hours though.

Ugh, that makes this decidedly more complicated. I'm pretty sure this is not possible to manage, at least as a standard Custom Channel. Sorry!

I can't even get it to show temporarily lol. Did that work for you as a custom channel?

Yes, watching it right now.

working now, maybe I had a copy/paste error! haha

Thanks for the help, even if it needs to be updated with some frequency, its still neat to see how a custom channel can work like this. The browser plugin you shared will be helpful

https://pa511wmedia100.ilchost.com/live/CAM-06-650.stream/playlist.m3u8?wmsAuthSign=c2VydmVyX3RpbWU9Ni8xNi8yMDIzIDExOjQ1OjQyIEFNJmhhc2hfdmFsdWU9STF4TnZobisrRHk0RzVVaVV2RWVjUT09JnZhbGlkbWludXRlcz0yMCZpZD0xNzIuOTAuNjkuMTIy

That's the feed straight off of the PA 511 site. Might get a complaint about certificate issues, it's a government site so what do you expect. You do need the Sign hash as part of the URL path.

I tried to use HLSTube with the top level website, but unfortunately that didn't work either. Since the m3u8 keeps expiring, it seems like the only way we currently have to work around this is with PC Stream for Channels.

@jbeez, please take a look at the link I posted. Even though it looks complicated, it might be something that could help get you more comfortable with the technical side. Honestly, it might be a bit of overkill to resolve your issue, but it is one of the core use cases. If there is a website streaming something and you want it in Channels, this workaround can help!

not working for me even in a browser(403), nothing about a cert issue. I'm guessing it timed out.

It looks like this feed is on a few different places, including youtube. One of the feeds has to work lol, at least im learning

Thanks for sharing, probably not going to work for me, I only have linux and mac OS available to run things on atm. If i get some time I might spin up a windows VM and play with it!

For whatever reason, maybe its temporary, when I watch this on my tv the time bar keeps popping up, like the bar that shows when you pause or rewind, etc. On and off. Almost like a buffering? Is there a way to troubleshoot that?

I pulled the stats up, and it looks like "buffering pauses" increases everytime it does it.

I looked at P C Stream for Channels Very interesting... but a little too complex for me to try right now.
.
I still think there should be a way to simply have a type of Custom Channel called "web site" ,
that is a live video stream, as a Custom Channel so it can be recorded,
if its not a live stream, Channels makes it fail.
If it is a "live stream" it may show a screen with a "Play" button,
pressing the remote pause/play or center d-pad button starts the Play.
Thanks for the work.

I made this custom channel earlier a few days ago! Wish I saw this earlier so I could share it. It should work for you without having to worry about expiring links. I made my own logos but you can replace them with @Fofer's or whatever you prefer.

^ perfect, thanks @alai!

This has been quite soothing and interesting to have on in the background

I'm amazed at how quickly they've handled the repair!

I think I'll miss this stream when the project ends. Thanks for mentioning it in the first place!

For those who haven't been watching, here's a time lapse of these past 12 days.

No spoilers!
