Issue logging into Hulu Live

I noticed that a bunch of my programs weren't recording and realized that Hulu was complaining about the password being wrong. I tried over and over to enter it and no joy so I removed Hulu as a source and tried to re-add it and get a notice saying it's a wrong password. I checked in a browser from my laptop and it's the correct login and password, so I know that's working. I came here and saw a thread where someone had an out of date Chrome version (not sure why chrome wouldn't update when the regular updates on the Channels server happen, but oh well). I ran the troubleshooting and updated Chrome from 89 to 117, that was the only issue it came back with that I saw other than my remote access to channels through the firewall wasn't there, but that shouldn't matter since this is all internal in my home. Any suggestions? I'm running a Rasbperry Pi with the standard image and here are the logs for ref:

Does it actually let you log into Hulu from the browser?

I feel your pain. If you figure it out please do share.

Yep, no issues logging in from a browser or any of our streaming devices like Roku, Google, TiVo stream, etc, just from Hulu.

I can understand that the DNS issue might cause certain channels to drop, but is it also an issue with baseline authentication as well? I didn't think that was the case.

Well, regardless, I changed the DNS and Hulu still isn't authenticating, so while it might be a factor for channels dropping, it's not letting me add Hulu back to my Channels DVR at this point as a source.

You might need to contact Hulu support and tell them you are trying to use your Hulu credentials to access TVeverywhere and their site is responding incorrectly with a password is incorrect message when trying to authenticate. I tell them to quit blocking my device and they say hold on and after a bit they say try it now and it works. I don’t mention channels dvr because I don’t want them to have someone else to blame it on. It’s Hulu’s issue.

My experience with Hulu login is that there is something in the process that hates headless Chrome:

I had to do something similar to this with Disney+ the other day; they were literally blocking my IP Address and their website was completely inaccessible on my network! Next time I'm trying to get Hulu to connect in the background, I'll have to get them on the horn and give this a try, see if it helps.

Unfortunately the Hulu rep doesn't seem to know what TV Everywhere means and she's thinking she's troubleshooting the Hulu app itself. I wonder if this is part of their crackdown on shared accounts and for some reason they are seeing the login from Channels to be external.

So update, now I'm getting an error which says "Context Cancelled" when trying to login rather than the authentication failed. Anyone seeing that as an issue?

So here's the resolution. I spent about an hour in chat today with Hulu and followed the suggestion someone else was mentioning about framing everything in terms of TV Everywhere. They had me try a bunch of stuff like uninstall the Hulu app on my device, which obviously wouldn't affect Channels, but fine to have to do. They wanted me to change my password and I explained that I didn't want to have to relogin to every device I own, and they flipped some switch on their end to keep existing devices from logging out after a password change. We changed the password and then the login process on Channels took about three times as long as before when it was failing and it completed successfully and the channels started rolling in and everything worked. So, that seems to be the fix. Spend time with Hulu and see if you can get them to flip levers on their side until it works. Good luck!
