Issue with my Google TV Chromecast

  • Google Chromecast w/ Google TV
  • HD Homerun Connect 4K

Live in Columbus, Ohio and get all the ATSC 3.0 channels, but one - the only one in 1080. It looks like this when I tune into it.

It comes in on my Apple TV 4K, but not my Google Chromecast.

Is there a setting I am missing? Thanks!

Does it work with software decoding?

Settings > Playback > Advanced > Decoder

Yeah, I tried that, but it won’t load at all that way.

Have you tried the Android beta app?

Sorry, I have not. Sort of a noob. How would I get that? Much appreciated.

Also just tried it on a Roku Streaming Stick+ 4K using the HDHomeRun app. Picture comes in great—but no sound.

Settings > Support > Install Channels DVR Beta

On the app? I am not seeing the option.

Interesting, it's there on mine. Which version is your Channels app? I have 3.1.0, and the option to install the beta is present on mine.

I found it, downloaded it and tried again. Still happening. I am thinking its the Chromecast and not the app.

Definitely could be. The CCGTV is really a minimal streamer device with some parts of the Android TV OS removed.

If you want a comparable (cheap) secondary streamer that works with Channels, I'd recommend either a TiVo Stream 4K, or Fire TV Stick 4K. But for the best experience with Channels, your best option is an Apple TV, which I'm sure you've discovered.

Thanks so much for your help.

I use the Chromecast with Google TV and it works perfectly.
