One of my sources I use is a Flex for OTA and have noticed when I watch a recorded show the picture is jittery and unwatchable but if I watch same channel live picture comes in perfect and no issues. I don't have this problem with TVE recorded shows. This seems to have started a month ago or so and just remembered about as I wanted to record something on NBC so no choice but to use OTA. Any known issues aware of and odd most the times would be other way around where live watching would be the problem if any.
What device are you running the DVR server on and what device for the client. I have this happen to me every couple of days running the client on the Shield and need to reboot it to clear the problem.
A couple things to think about.
OTA from a Flex is much higher bitrate than TVE and it's MPEG2 instead of H.264.
Without tuner sharing turned on, a client will stream a live channel directly from the HDHR tuner, bypassing the DVR.
I use mini PC Windows 11 for server and has plenty of power and an Google TV 4K. Yes tried that a few times as far as rebooting.
Thanks yes that makes sense than as far as live streaming. I think I do have tuner sharing turned on but will double check.
He stated in his OP that the problem only happens with recorded content, not live content so tuner sharing would not come into play.
I use a dedicated Linux mini-PC for the server which runs rock-solid. My problem is with the Shield/client. I never have to reboot the server, just the client. Can you reboot the Google TV Channels client?
What I was pointing out.
If tuner sharing is off, when watching live, network traffic is between the client and HDHR tuner.
When watching a recording, it had to go from HDHR to server to record and then from server to client to playback.
Different network paths.
