Just the TV Directory

Is there a way to just move the TV directory (not the whole Data directory)? I have a SSD and a RAID device and want the Data on the SSD and the TV recording on the RAID Drive. I've tried to specify a second directory in the UI, but it doesn't use it.

You could try this:

  • Disable the DVR in the web UI
  • Move the TV directory to its new location
  • Create a link in the DVR directory to your new TV directory
  • Go back and re-enable the DVR in the web UI

Edit: changed symlink to link, as only a hard link may work in some situations. (This is OS dependent.)

Thanks for the suggestion. Testing now...

Symlink will work if your system supports it. But you can't move just the TV directory. You'll need to move the whole DVR directory.

Do you mean to say that Channels will not follow symlinks within the DVR directory, only allow the top-level DVR directory to be a symlink?

Edit: If symlinks won't work, what about a hard link?

Channels just uses filesystem calls, it's not as detailed as that. Just try it and see if it works. Make the link, then try watching a TV show. Try making a recording too.

Symlink didn't work, but Junction (aka Hard Link) worked fine.

Thanks All!
