I just used several online tools to scan the link, but found nothing unsafe. Not sure what Kaspersky thinks is going on...
I submitted to Kaspersky to reanalyze their flag - it appears to be very old (2005) - strange that it is still being flagged by the most current version of Kaspersky, with the most recent definitions...
You might want to use Virus Total for checking files and urls
Sorry I didn't clarify which online tools, but yes I did test with VirusTotal (and others) before reaching out to Kaspersky to correct the issue.
I thought Kapsersky was banned in the usa now, at least pulled from shelves, since it is Russian and was investigated for having spying and malicious code in it.
Either way, i would suggest, based on personal experience and my own testing, use ESET.
That been the only AV software that has passed "the grandparents" test the last 10yrs for me.
Kapersky was the 2nd best, but was much heavier on system resources, and these days, don't trust its origans and who controls it.
Kaspersky moved its data centers to Switzerland some time ago, and processes suspicious and malicious files in non-Russian countries (Latin America, etc). Last I checked, Kaspersky is installed on over 400 million devices worldwide. How many also have Channels installed? No idea…. But I assume someone else (devs?) will need to know it’s presently an issue, and is being resolved by the vendor.
So? Where there data centers are is not the issue. And they did not move all of them.
Its still owned and operated by Russia company that, at least in the recent past, has had proven and documented concerns.
Use what you want, but, just passing on this info, and suggesting that there are superior products out there. I personally do not use any AV software, as the built in one to W11 is good enough, and i am not an average user, and have never infected any of my Win machines since using Win 95. My friends and family, a different story. lol. For always on machines, or NAS, etc, a Linux OS is the best, with no need to worry about such AV software.
I use the Pi Image for Channels. It don't have antivirus software.
Edit: Additionally, one does not need a Anti-virus/anti/malware software on a system that is a HTPC or dedicated Server for Channels DVR, or Plex etc. If it is only used for that, and not used as a normal family PC or workstation, where some one is browsing websites or checking emails, it is just a waste of resources and a hit to performance. Most often causes lag and excessive R/W cycles to drives due to the AV engine scanning files. It is easy to use built in tools on Windows to further secure the system, such set the built in firewall to white list only mode, only allowing external connections to the software you use like Channels etc.
