I have some shows that I like to keep forever. Requesting the ability to auto flag keep forever when creating a season pass.If keep forever is flagged on the season pass, then that flag will be set for any shows recorded by default.
I am trying to keep my wife from deleting my shows I want to keep forever. It's odd that she only manages to delete my shows by accident but not the 5k hallmark moves she has recorded. hmm...
Keep Forever doesn’t protect it from deletion, it just makes those items ignored during the pruning of watched items.
How I deal with this is I drag the shows I don't want deleted over to my local content directory. Then I set the clients to only allow deletion of recorded content. That way my local content stuff is safe.
It would be a cool feature to be able to set a pass to record to a library location where different deletion rules apply.
I guess if the folder is already there you could change permissions to prevent deletion I would think. Just set the folder to read/write only. Even if the trash was still avail channels would't have permmissions to do so. Not sure how this would be handled by channels if it tried and wasn't able to. That might throw an unexpected error.
