Not sure if this is a bug or if I’m missing something but I just can’t seem to get the ‘Keep 3 Recordings’ setting to work.
I’ve had a few shows that I’ve been trying it with and all of them have kept all the recordings anyway. Tried deleting the passes (and all the saved up recordings) and re-adding (from both the ATV and the Web GUI), as well as upping the limit to 5, but nothing seems to make it stop
.
What’s not working? The expected behavior is that only the three newest recordings would be kept and the rest deleted, but it’s unclear what behavior you are seeing.
The cleanup happens once a day, and it prints out to the log all the recordings that were deleted.
It never seems to delete the oldest one when a new one records over the limit. For example the one that I re-added is set to 5 but has 6 recordings saved right now. What I didn’t know that that it was a one time clean up (used to others that just delete right away) so it could be I’m not waiting long enough, but the ones I had set to 3, were getting into the 5-6 range as well.
Does the cleanup happen in the middle of the night?
The pruner runs every 24 hours, starting from when the server boots up.
Since we’ve done a few updates in the last few days, it’s possible it hasn’t gotten a chance to stay alive for 24 hours yet.
I will change the DVR to run cleanup at specific time overnight, and see if I can add a button somewhere to force it.
That makes sense. Appreciate it!
This has been fixed in DVR v2017.01.23.2004.
The pruner now runs every 3 hours. You can also force it to run via this command:
curl -XPUT http://x.x.x.x:8089/dvr/pruner
Thanks for adding that in!
