Keystrokes for WebUI or possible Feature Request

when playing recording through the web interface, are there keystrokes available for Pause/Play and Skip FWD(30) and Skip Back(10)?

if there aren’t, that would be a welcome addition. typically a web media player uses the Space Bar for Pause/Play, and the Left and Right arrow keys for FWD and Back, or in this case Skip FWD and Skip Back.

you can use the media keys at the top of your keyboard to play/pause, adjust brightness, control volume, and mute the audio.

afraid that doesn’t work on my computer. i have a MacBook Pro, and the media keys (Function keys) merely open iTunes and attempt to play music.

what computer and keyboard combination are you using to get that to work for you?

It works in Safari. You can fast forward and rewind too. Safari is the best browser for MacOS

I should also mention that Safari also allows additional features to the video window, including captions, PiP, and airplay options.

using Safari on my MacBook. does not work for me. i have never known the Fwd, Pause/Play, Rwd keys (F7, F8, F9) to have ever done anything but open and control iTunes.

again, can you specify which computer and keyboard combination you’re using.

Just tested working on the following computers and keyboards:
Macbook early-2015
Macbook Pro mid-2014
Macbook Air early-2014
Macbook Pro mid-2010
Apple Macbook built-in keyboard
Apple magic keyboard A1644
Apple wireless keyboard A1314
This is just what I have lying around right now, I am sure it works on more computers than this.

i’ve researched this more as none of my Mac computers using Mac keyboards allow the Fwd, Rwd or Pause/Play function keys to control any app other than iTunes. it would appear i’m not the only person with this problem. the only solution is to hack the OS by running Terminal commands, or installing 3rd party software. neither of which do i have any desire to do.

so going back to my original post, since Channels web viewer is running a custom media player in the first place, could you please integrate keystrokes for the various controls. Skip Fwd, Skip Back, Pause/Play are the main ones i am looking for.

The latest DVR pre-release has added hotkey support for the web video player.
