EDL files are not required for this feature.

trying to update to this build just crashes Kodi for me.
Edit: If I disable the existing add-on and then install the new one it will install that way.

The same thing happened to me. I uninstalled the previous version and the new version installed ok. However, it still does not slip commercials.
@tmm1 - new version installed and it's still not skipping commercials. Yes, I am on Windows.
I am going to install in on the Shield as well to see how it works there too.

Is this also available for Shield ?
Commercial skip is broken in Kodi 18.4. Until 18.5 comes out for SHIELD it will not work.

EDIT: You can try the work-around mentioned here but when I tried on macOS it didn't work for me.

Okay...updated the add-on, turned up the logging, toggled bonjour off and on, and restarted Kodi. Still no joy, with about half the time the program crashing and the other half getting the error...not seen both, this time. I have the full log file, how should I get it to you?

Is anyone else able to install the addon on the Shield TV device? I just keep getting an error box that it can't install it. I updated Kodi to the latest nightly as well.
It works on my SHIELD. The addon is only compatible with Leia so the latest Matrix nightly will not work.
There is a program addon called Log Viewer that you can use to see if the logs show more info.
I am on Leia. Unfortunately, the log viewer doesn't show anything to me. I just get "Addon failed to install" error box when I try to install it.
I tried another addon via the zip file and it worked fine so not sure what the issue could be. I tried it on both my Shields and I get the same error on each one.
Weird I installed on my Shields no problem at all.
Did you use the 64-bit Android build?
Installed and works on my FireTV using the ARM version.
Ok, forgive me guys - I am doing all this testing while I am resting from having the Flu. So, I was trying to install the wrong Zip file.
When I realized that I installed the correct one and all is good now.
