Language preference for season pass?

The NFL championship game aired on our local Fox affiliate, but it was also available in my area on a smaller Spanish speaking content station.

Luckily, before the game, I noticed what was scheduled in the season pass and manually edited it to record on the correct channel.

I checked the advanced settings for a season pass and don't see a language preference. How do others handle when a show you want to record is simulcast in 2 languages on 2 different channels?

I guess I could record all instances of the show, but I'd rather not have 2 different 4 hour recordings going for the same show at the same time.

Channels don't have metadata like that anyways, so there's nothing we could do about it.

Your best strategy is to hide all the foreign language channels you don't care about, and they'll never be used for recording or shown in your guide.

Any way to only record on favorites? Or to prevent channels from getting added randomly to the channel inventory when the HD Homerun picks up the new channel?

I have new channels getting added all the time when random atmospheric events allow me to pick up previously un-receivable ones, and they get added automatically. This one for example was on a new channel that I didn't even pick up as of the last time I cleaned up/organized my channel list, and had no idea it was in my guide until this event.

In other words, unless I go in once a week and hide channels I don't want, this could continue happening?

By default it will prefer to record from favorites. Also usually non-english versions require a separate pass.

Why do you think it was going to record the spanish language version?

On the screen where you can view upcoming recordings for a pass, there was a channel icon I didn’t recognize, so when I went to look at it, it said it was scheduled on this new channel.

Fox was on the favorites and this one wasn’t, but for some reason it chose to record on the new Spanish channel.
