There's no plans to support Smart TV platforms at the moment. We have our hands full with our existing apps at the moment.

This reminds me of the situation over two decades ago when people purchased a TV with a DVD player embedded in it. With the pace that technology changes today, the idea is even worse. Keep my TV and my connectivity hardware separate, so that I can keep the TV much longer after the DVD player breaks.
Streaming devices don’t produce the same quality as built in tv apps
How is that?
By sight, I always find the PQ sharper, on all apps including Network tuners. Blu-ray players, PC apps, Gaming consoles also produce a sharper picture. I pretty much only use my Apple TV for Channels and Spectrum. Apple TV sucks in other ways, but I won’t go into that.
The decoders in the TV are much better than the decoder on devices attached to it.

Yes, the video hardware is better. The problem is that the software is usually half-baked, and rarely updated.

I guess it depends on the app. The LG Netflix app is so much better than the Apple TV one
