When using "Manage Lineup", could we allow to map the channels using station callsigns in addition to the channel numbers? Playlists entries may change over time and channels get renumbered. This would allow not having to babysit the mapping.
In your #EXTINF … line for the stream, you can use the tvc-guide-stationid tag to specify exactly which station the stream is for. (This presupposes that you are using Channels' provided guide data from Gracenote. If you are using a separate XMLTV source for guide data, then ensuring the id attribute of the channel element matches the channel-id tag in your M3U playlist will do the same thing.)

Can channels be more user friendly?
If you are getting them from a third-party/random website, chances are that they lack the channel-id tag, correct?
According to Channels' documentation, the channel-id is required; not having it is likely the source of your settings not persisting when the playlist changes.
This is not planned. Please use the editor as it is by searching for the network and applying it to the channel.
