Live OTA freezes

Watched on native app for over an hour. No freeze.

After it happens, are there new entries under crash reports?

Can’t do that anymore. Latest ATV no longer has a USB port.

There's no mention of USB on that link.

Never mind. That was the old way I used to get logs. Connect to usb and use Console app on a Mac.

Yes see many log entries that mention channels. Several everyday but nothing specific about a crash

I want to know if a new one appears with the timestamp that matches when you notice the issue occurring.

If so, please download it via airdrop and send to [email protected]

I sent a few from the past day. Not really sure if they were when freezes occurred as I didn’t notice the time.

What you sent me is just logs of when testflight updated to new betas

Those are the only logs with dates in the past few weeks. All other logs have date stamps in 2021

Okay then it sounds like there are no jetsam events or crash reports related to Channels. In that case, we know the OS is not causing the app to stall and something else is going on.

Last jetsam was in June 2021

This morning decided to try watching an ATSC 3 channel. Got the freeze within minutes of tuning in. Sent logs.

Have you tried looking at the real time signal stats using SD's HDHomeRun Config GUI for TECH ?

Silicondust Commercial TECH Software

I’m on a Mac so I can’t run that

They used to distribute the tool with the Mac software, but stopped doing so a couple years ago. You can, however, build it yourself if you're so inclined. The sources are still published, but it does require GTK+ to build:

(Yes, it says Linux, but the software is the same, regardless. However, I don't believe they have updated this version to handle the specifics of ATSC 3.0; that is only available on the Windows version they maintain.)

Suggestion on SD forum is that signal from one broadcaster is so hot it’s overloading the front end of the tuner even when not watching that channel. That channel is always at 100% and could be higher since the scale stops there.

So I added a pad to the line and so far no more freeze ups. But this does not explain the same exact behavior that I see on TVE sources.

No, it doesn't. But at least it helps answer one of your questions. Now you know the signal is the issue for this particular channel, and now you can narrow the issues for your internet-based feeds.

Does the web UI for your tuner show the Signal Strength and Quality in dBmV and dB?
It does for my HDHR Prime.
