Live TV Playback Stuttering

Hello, I have been experiencing a lot of stuttering when watching live programs. I've noticed that it tends to occur more frequently when another TV is using Channels as well. For example, last night we had 2 TV's tuned to the SuperBowl. One tv worked fine while the other one was essentially unusable.

Using NVIDIA Shield Pro
HDHomerun Quatrro

Signal quality on that channel was 77-82
Wifi is rock solid.

What am I missing? I love Channels and really want this to work. Any suggestions?

Click the speedtest option on each TV under settings > dvr and report back what they say.

Hi, I did not see a speed test option in the Apple Tv Channels app. However, I did run a speed test using a different app. Speeds are around 65 - 80 mbs.

I've had issues where the Apple Tv switches from the 5ghz network to the 2.4ghz and the speed slows down. I rebooted, the Apple Tv and everything seems to be working fine.

Are you thinking this is an internet speed/connection issue?

Odds are it is. HD OTA streams use a decent amount of bandwidth. The fact that the issue got worse when watching on two devices at once also indicates your WiFi environment may be saturating, leading to issues with throughput. Assuming both clients are WiFi, of course.

You may already know this, but try and keep your airwaves as free as possible. Hardwire everything you can, and only use WiFi for things that have no other option. It might also help to do a channel scan regularly to make sure you are using the least congested channel possible.

Confirmed the stuttering was caused by a poor wireless connection. I've noticed that AppleTvs have a tendency to lose connection strength. When it started stuttering my connection speed was 3.5 mpbs, after I rebooted my connection speed was 75 mbs.

So a quick reboot solves the problem. Thanks for the guidance.

Sounds like it started with a 5GHz connection, then dropped to a 2.4GHz band.
